Gurston Down hillclimb offers an annual class based Championship and a Top Ten Challenge.
Gurston's award winning team run meetings in a friendly way, and welcome new drivers.
The Gurston Down Hillclimb is located some 10 miles south west of Salisbury in Wiltshire, Southern England, in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The hillclimb is operated by the South Western Centre of the British Automobile Racing Club, and offers ten days of motorsport over eight meetings, plus an annual test day early in the season for local club members.
The events usually include two rounds of the national hillclimb championship (two days each), four days dedicated to the local Championship and Challenge, and two days dedicated to running rounds of visiting Championships. We also allow members of Invited Clubs to participate in special classes on most of our meetings.
Our facilities are first class, and include all-tarmac paddock areas, modern offices showers and toilets, and a purpose built restuarant, which offers a full range of hot and cold food all day, and a licensed bar from mid-day.
The hill is 1057 yards in length (967 metres), and consists of a series of tight and flowing bends, together with fast straights. Uniquely, the track plunges down hill into a valley before starting the climb to the very fast finish line.
Speeds for the fastest cars typically reach 140mph in the valley just before the first bend, and 150mph over the finish line kink.
All Competitors need to hold an appropriate MSA competition licence, and be current members of the South West Centre of the BARC or the invited clubs.
Facilities for spectators are excellent, and special viewing enclosures have been constructed close to the track near some of the more exciting parts of the track.
